About the Event
Producing electricity on rooftops in Serbia is no longer a rarity — and increasingly, residential buildings are joining in. We have already shown that cooperative solar power plants are possible here as well. The next step? Joint action by citizens, companies, institutions, and local governments through energy communities.
But what does this look like in practice?
How are these communities organized, how do they operate, and what does it mean when we share energy instead of merely consuming it?
And what are the most important lessons we can learn from European examples?
Guest Speaker: Josh Roberts (REScoop.eu)
These questions will be addressed by Josh Roberts, lawyer and Senior Policy Advisor at REScoop.eu – the European federation bringing together over 2,250 energy communities and cooperatives across Europe.
Josh is one of Europe’s leading experts on energy community legislation and practice. He has led REScoop’s efforts at the EU level to ensure that energy communities are recognized and supported as new actors in the energy market. He also has extensive experience assisting cooperatives, associations, and policymakers in transposing and implementing EU legislation into national frameworks.
What to Expect
The lecture will showcase various organizational models and experiences from the REScoop network across Europe, with a special focus on southern and eastern EU countries.
Through concrete examples, participants will see how communities facing similar challenges organize, develop, and grow — and how energy communities could take root in Serbia as well.
After the lecture, an open discussion with the audience will follow, along with an informal talks.
